Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Gull Lake Camp!  For 88 years we’ve been providing an exceptional camping experience for kids of all ages.  We hope your child is as excited about joining us this summer as we are to have them.

As always, we are committed to providing your child with a safe, fun-filled week they’ll remember for a lifetime.  In fact, our goal is to give your child the best week they have had all year!  But even more than that, we are committed to meeting your child where they are at and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with them in fresh, impacting, and experiential ways; encouraging them to take the next step in their spiritual journey.

If you have any questions about the camp, we would love to hear from you.  Feel free to call or email us anytime.

Stuff You’ll Need to Know

advent_058.jpg

New Stuff:  RETREAT PODS are finally complete!!!!  First campers registered get to stay in the brand new retreat pods – and they are sweet!!!!!!
v     And loads of other great stuff:  tubing, skateboarding, archery, climbing wall, swimming, low ropes course, great speakers, beach volleyball, sports, awesome leaders, sandy beach, pottery, canoeing, dancing, music, photography, kayaking, wide games, tuck shop, water trampoline, meeting cool friends, and way more!
v     Bussing
Due to increased costs of bussing and decreasing response to providing bussing, it will not be
available in 2009.  We apologize for any inconvenience.
v      Financial Assistance
We don’t want any campers to miss the best week of their year due to cost. We are committed to keep the fees affordable; however, we realize that it may be prohibitive for some. Financial assistance is available through the local churches that support this ministry and the Gull Lake Campership Program. If you need financial assistance, please contact the camp office and we will gladly help you any way we can.
v      Spending Money and Tuck Shop
Campers will want to bring money for the tuck shop and cool, camp clothing. Suggested amount for a week is $10 -$15 (plus clothing).
v      Finding Us
We are located on the shore of Gull Lake, AB; 30 mins NW of Red Deer; less than 2 hrs from Edmonton and Calgary. From Hwy 2, go west on Hwy 12 for 10 km, then north on Lincoln Road for 5 km, then west on McLaurin Lane.  Watch for camp signs.
v      Affiliations
We are owned by the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada and are administered by a local board of directors.  We are members of the Alberta Camping Association and Christian Camping International.

Summer Camp Background Print E-mail

Here is a bit of background to give you a better picture of who we we are, what we do, what we've done and who we are a part of.

We are Gull Lake Centre and we have been around since 1920.  In the past we have been Gull Lake Baptist Camp and Gull Lake Camp and Retreat Centre, you may have heard us called Gull Lake Camp, GLBC, GLC, Gull Lake, Gull, or just simply "the camp".  On Jan 1, 2008 we changed our trade name to Gull Lake Centre to better describe what we do here.  In 2007 we built a new main lodge transforming us from a summer camp that does a few other things on the side to an organization that is the centre for camping, the centre for retreating and conferencing, the centre for spiritual formation, the centre for community and many other things that we could not do before.  We are still a summer camp and we offer exceptional Christ-centred camps just like we have for the past 88 years, but now we do so much more in the other nine months of the year as well.

Some other facts:

We are owned by the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada (CBWC).  To learn more about them click here

We are members of the Alberta Camping Association (ACA) and follow their standards which are the highest in the province.  To learn more about them click here

All of our Cabin leaders are 18 or older.

Our camper to leader ratio is about 2 kids per leader on site and 3 or 4 kids per leader (depending on age) in their cabin.

Our camping program actually cost about twice as much as we bring in from camper fees.  The rest comes from revenue made from renting out our facilities during the rest of the year or from private donations from people who believe that kids need a week a year to get outside, meet new friends and learn about a God who created the outdoors, and friendships.  If you would like to donate to our camping program click here

If you have any questions, concerns, thoughts or ideas, I would love to here them.  You can reach me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or 403-782-2495

Grace and Peace,
Steve Roadhouse

It is our 90th summer this year and we are pulling out the stops.  We are going to Celebrate! all summer long.  It will be an amazing summer of having fun, meeting new friends, and most importantly: living life to the fullest in the presence of a loving God

Gull Lake Camp exists to connect campers to Christ and we will do that this summer by having great staff on site that will model what being a Christian is and show what it means to live life to the fullest.

And loads of other great stuff:
tubing, archery, crafts, music, widegames, pottery, wakeboarding, canoeing, low ropes course, swimming, gym games, a climbing wall, and so much more...

The Pod Cabins are so nice that it barely even fells like camp when you stay there (don't worry, a quick round of Diamond Smugglers or Lord of the Rings will remind you where you are at).  The first campers registered and paid in full get to stay in the pods for their week at camp so get your stuff in today!
