What our camps are about

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Gull Lake Camp!  For 88 years we’ve been providing an exceptional camping experience for kids of all ages.  We hope your child is as excited about joining us this summer as we are to have them.

As always, we are committed to providing your child with a safe, fun-filled week they’ll remember for a lifetime.  In fact, our goal is to give your child the best week they have had all year!  But even more than that, we are committed to meeting your child where they are at and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with them in fresh, impacting, and experiential ways; encouraging them to take the next step in their spiritual journey.

If you have any questions about the camp, we would love to hear from you.  Feel free to call or email us anytime.

Due to increased costs of bussing and decreasing response to providing bussing, it will not be

We don’t want any campers to miss the best week of their year due to cost. We are committed to keep the fees affordable; however, we realize that it may be prohibitive for some. Financial assistance is available through the local churches that support this ministry and the Gull Lake Campership Program. If you need financial assistance, please contact the camp office and we will gladly help you any way we can.
v      Spending Money and Tuck Shop
Campers will want to bring money for the tuck shop and cool, camp clothing. Suggested amount for a week is $10 -$15 (plus clothing).
v      Finding Us
We are located on the shore of Gull Lake, AB; 30 mins NW of Red Deer; less than 2 hrs from Edmonton and Calgary. From Hwy 2, go west on Hwy 12 for 10 km, then north on Lincoln Road for 5 km, then west on McLaurin Lane.  Watch for camp signs.
v      Affiliations
We are owned by the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada and are administered by a local board of directors.  We are members of the Alberta Camping Association and Christian Camping International.

A Day in the Life of Camp

The Camp Program
If you've wondered what a day at Gull Lake is like then this is the place to look. A typical day looks something like this:

campers.jpg Wake Up
At about 8:00 we wake up the campers to start off the day. Wake up is an hour later at Senior Teens.

Gladiators
After wake up we have some morning exercises or games including pillow fights, obtacle courses (the gauntlet), and other fun challenges. Campers are usually still a little drowsy at this time but they wake up by the end.

Breakfast

At every camp each camper chooses one of three skill groups: Outdoor Extreme, Waterfront, or Artistic Expressions. At this time they will go to the area they chose for the week and take part in activities like climbing the wall, archery, tubing, canoeing, pottery, or photography.

Lunch

Tuck
After Lunch we open up the Tuck shop where campers can spend deposited money on food, drinks, and camp clothing.

Beach Time
We head to the beach while the afternoon is still young to spend a couple of hours in the sun. At the beach campers can go tubing, canoeing, play swamp soccer, beach volleyball, frolic in the water or just relax on the beach and have a great conversation with a friend.

Cabin Time
Once we get back from the beach there is time for cabins to hang out together and get a taste of different things the camp can offer. All things that can be done during skills (climbing, tubing etc...) can be done with your cabin during this time.

Supper
Occasionally the Arts team on staff will organize theme meals during supper. This past summer we had many different ones such as 1950s night (as well as theme nights for the 60s, 70s, and 80s), super hero night, seniors bingo night and of course the formal dinner at the end of Senior Teens.

Evening Event
Each night we play a massive wide game with the entire camp participating. Favotrites include: Lord of the Rings, annhialation, civilitation and many others.

Mug Up
Mug up is just a code word we have for an evening snack. Occasionally we will set up a coffee house for the campers to hang out in.

Campfire
Everyone gathers at Memorial Hall for some more time to worship together and the speaker will give another talk or someone will give their testimony during this time.

Lights Out
After about half an hour to hang out and get ready for bed everyone hits the sack for the night.
