The FED Program

Faith, Experience & Discipleship

A high-school volunteer program that offers a rewarding opportunity to cultivate faith, develop personal and practical skills, and enjoy a vibrant and enjoyable community atmosphere.

The Vision of the FED Program

The key elements of the FED program are faith, experience, and discipleship.

Faith

Gull Lake Centre is a Christian camp; everything we do revolves around our faith.  As volunteers you will get to explore and develop your faith as you work with a mentor, read the bible, participate in chapel, and pray throughout the day. You also get to support the faith of the campers through your work in creating a clean space for them to connect with Christ and each other.

Experience

FED students get to experience both sides of camp: the work and the play.  The work is washing dishes, filling water jugs, serving meals, mopping floors, and cleaning up.  The play is unique just to FED students.  FED students get their own dedicated beach, boats, and activity times.  After the work is done you get to try wake surfing or tubing behind the boat and have time for wall climbing, laser tag, archery, and the other fun activities of camp.  You also get to participate in the two chapel sessions each day with the campers.

Discipleship

Throughout the week, our FED program will be guided by two dedicated leaders who will mentor and disciple them. With a focus on fostering Bible reading and providing mentorship, these students will have ample opportunities to learn, ask deep questions, explore their faith, and flourish during their time at camp.

The Cost of the FED Program

FAQ

  • This is a high school volunteer opportunity! So, if you are going into Grade 10, 11, or 12 you are the right age to come!

  • After you apply, we will email you back to confirm with you the weeks that you will volunteer at camp. This program can have between 4-10 kids in it each week. If we are already full for a certain week, we’ll let you know!

  • We are a Christian camp. We have two chapel times each day – one in the morning, and one in the evening. We intentionally talk about God throughout the day as it comes up in conversation as well. We teach that there is a good, gracious, just, God who loves us and created us and wants to be in relationship with us as individuals and as a humanity. We use the Bible as the foundation of all of our teaching and the good news of Jesus as our focal point. The FED program is designed to give high school students an opportunity to explore their faith as well as give them a great experience working and playing at camp.

  • Absolutely! This is a great addition to any reference. Employers and educational facilities love to see volunteer work as part of your resume. You will also be involved in practical work such as cleaning and maintenance which can also be an asset on your resume!
